10,000 Miles & A Cloud of Dust Tour - Adventures with Prowess Pt. 1
Traveling on a bus with a bunch of people is not new to me. Growing up in the age of Chevy Chase family vacations with 6 people jammed into a mini van with no technology and very little patience as well as collegiate soccer with 26 smelly women and their sweaty soccer bags locked in a bus for 9 hours, I have had my share of road adventures. But traveling directly with an all-male rock band was A WHOLE NEW EXPERIENCE! Prowess is a band MSP manages and I have worked with multiple times. July launched their largest tour ever- Coast to Coast with 60 dates in about 2.5 months. I had the honor of joining them on the tour for their first 5 dates in South Carolina and Florida.
The first date was a kick off show in Charlotte, NC, their home city, hosted at the Filmore Underground. The lineup was amazing with local acts: Scowl Brow, Violent Life Violent Death, and Modern Primitives. The CROWD WAS MASSIVE and were engaged with every band, which is a rare occurrence at local shows. Check out my recap video below of the Charlotte, NC show!
The traveling tour officially began at the second tour date at a Harley-Davidson in Greenville, SC. The Bike Night was attended by almost 300 people. A beautiful night unfolded and Prowess melted some faces! They killed it! The excitement of the large show and the upcoming tour was displayed in their performance. Not only Prowess, but their 13-year-old opener, who can shred the guitar and command the stage for simply being a one-man-band, caught that energy too. It was a great night and I'm happy to say I caught a lot of the magic on film. The video is below!
After the show, the band decompressed and we loaded up the 1997 RV with 8 people's stuff for the 2-month haul, an endless supply of Ramen and a single roll of toilet paper and hit the road!
